In my never ending quest to get this friggin pile leak free I found that I have cracked another flex section in my oil drain tube. Does anyone have an unbroken one kicking around? This car just will not stop sprouting leaks and blowing crap up

I have a few, not sure from what years though. Which one do you need?

And where are you located?

Just get a new one from the dealer. They are not that much and it beats dealing with 17 year old units that always break or leak.

lol, i need a 6 bolt. I am in Ft Collins. I guess it depends on how much the dealer is asking for it vs. if there is someone local who can get me one that isn't broken for cheap. I have been going to the dealer for a lot of little parts lately though just because of availability as long as it's not too expensive.

Cloud posted a WTB ad - if I posted a WTB ad I would want everyone to respond with all options. If this was your For Sale ad I'm sure Jack wouldn't have posted in it. I definitely don't think Jack was trying to keep you from making a few bucks on the part, as much as offering Cloud another option.

One thing I've appreciated about this forum is that it's not a commercial site, as much as a DSM community. I'm not saying you can't make money, but there are much better places to turn a profit. I've seen people offer parts for free after someone else tries to sell them cheap. If you're the one trying to sell the part that's going to piss you off. If sometime in the future you're the one needing the part you're going to appreciate it.

Huh? You are all pissed off over a $5 return line?? Doesn't make any sense, but if you want to be that way, that's fine with me. I was just trying to help the guy out.

Seriously, it's ok, I consider all options. And just because Jack said dealer doesn't mean I am going straight there to pick one up. I priced it at about $22and that's fine, but if I can find a good one easily enough for $5 I'll support the little guy too. Lord knows I sold enough of my stockpile in maine to help poor dsmers out :p

What? Priced it at $22? What part number are you guys using?

CAPS calls out MD189313 for a 1G return tube, and that's ~$53 with a 25% discount.

Interestingly, the 2G return tube (MD189736) is ~$10 with the discount.

I checked CAPS and got MD189736 for a pn from my vin. This is why I hate CAPS, it almost always ends up with ambiguity =P What did you put in to get your part number? And why the hell did it give me a 2g part number when I specifically used a 1g vin  Does the 2g tube fit and maybe is a 'revised' replacement part?

The 1g and 2g tubes are practically identical, but the 1g bolt holes at the turbo are closer together to fit the TD05 turbos. When doing a turbo swap from a T25 to a 14B/16G on a 2g, you need to dremel the holes out to make it fit.

Sounds like it might be worth dremeling out the 2g tube as a replacement? I've never done it, but how much material do you need to take off?

Another cheap fix you could take a hack saw and cut the flex section out and go to your local napa or whatever part store and get a 4" piece of hydro line and two clamps and bam you have a new flex section....just another option..I did this it cost me 5 bucks and no leaks...I went to per tek for the hose and clamps they are some great guys and made my ss braided lines and they guarante there work one of my lines had a pinhole leak they replaced the line for free no questions asked....

You don't need to take much off. You're basically just making the bolt hole an oval. :)
