View Full Version : Injector cleaning

I've been reading the recent thread regarding "cylinder 3 misfire", and am curious about cleaning injectors in an ultrasonic. I see in that thread that D Walker says it will be marginal, but anything will help, I'm guessing.

I'm a jeweler, I have an ultrasonic, and am wondering what I should use to clean the injectors, ie: what cleaning agent. Can anyone recommend a cleaning solution for this? Should I just use a bottle of fuel system cleaner, or is there something better? I've got a set of used 550's coming and I'd like to service them myself, in as much as that's possible.

Can I submerge the whole injector, or should I only place the tip in the solution? I also have a steamer, which procuces about 100psi of steam through a small (2mm) nozzle. Can I use this to blow through the injector, or would I screw them completely if I do that? Any thoughts?

Thanks much,
Matthew

I'm curious about your jeweler's tools like the ultrasonic, can you give me a few links to places that sell such stuff?

Thanks for the link. Good photos...shows injectors not fully submerged. Doesn't say what they are cleaning them in, though.

Any idea how much voltage is required to open/close the injectors? The text with the photo says the injectors are being cycled open/closed in the bath.

Here's a couple of links to jewelers supply houses. I don't know if they will require a business license to open an account for you...let me know if you have any issues, and I could potentially order equipment for you.
