Can anyone burp the pipes for my fmic? I have 3" aluminum pipes and learned last night that they blow off at about 16PSI. I'm still breaking in my new motor so It's not bad for now, but I plan on running about 28PSI before the summer is over.

Thanks,

A

what do you mean burp you ic pipes?

sounds to me like you just need some t-bolt clamps.

or you need the pipes beaded perhaps.

I think he did mean beaded, but I'm not sure.

Speaking of that, though, anyone know of a place that has the tool to do that (beads on piping)? I don't have a need yet, just wondering for future reference. Last time I had TEC do mine, however they're no longer around.

Is this thread serious? What are you planning on burping out of the pipes? Air or... air? And when you do it are you planning on using air? Just curious. That 70lb/min turbo and 1000cc injectors won't do much good with all that extra AIR lingering in your IC pipes!

wow, 4 responses and not one serious one? Let me try again.....
I need a bead either welded or pressed to the end of my intercooler pipes about 1/2" from the ends to keep them from blowing off. T-Bolt clamps by themselves are not enough. The pipes are 3" aluminum so I need someone who can "bead" teh ends of aluminum.
I hope this is a bit more clear..........

9 second racing has a beading machine...I'm sure a half dozen other shops around the area do too. Call some performance shops in the Denver area.

You can always use the ol' JB Weld trick too.

I don't hink that hairspray will hold upwards of 26 PSI. I used it previously at about 20 PSI and it held well, but I wouldn't trust it at over 26PSI. I'll call around to some local places and see, I just wantted to know if anyone on th eclub had the ability before I went this route.

I used the hairspray for the last 4 years and it has held 25psi just fine on all the big turbos I've had. I now use WD40 on my pipes though. Slips on good and easy at first, but 10 minutes later good luck getting it off. Erron showed me this trick.

Ah yes, the 'ol lusty lube trick. Ya see, WD-40 is wonderful for displacing water and even better for glueing rubber to steel. It's an old bike trick for puttin on grips. Hose 'em down with the lusty lube, er, um WD-40, slip them on and wait like 20 minutes. You'll swear it was glue. It does come off too, just reverse the process with the wd-40 and you're good to go.

Tom at Triple M Motorsports in Longmont also has a nice beader if you need his cell number or need to stay up north.
