I plan on going, will be running a couple of gallons of 100 and trying to tune the MAFT for a 13.xx pass.

How has Bandi been for stock-appearing (16G) turbos and the jacket rule?

If there is someone willing to hold a camcorder, I'd love to get a run on tape. I'll be doing some in-car shooting, but would like to have an external run as well.

Hopefully I'll see a few of you there. Look for the white GVR-4 and come say hi.

Come in pants and a long sleeve shirt or jacket on...not shorts and a t-shirt...act like your just hoping to get some baseline runs in and this thing isn't a powerhouse (of course being a GVR4 it doesn't look like one :) ). Mention your not even sure what it runs but your hope for 14's or something like that. You'll probably be just fine.

I found it pretty funny that Keith wasn't allowed to race at the Coy event because of a jacket. Shawn was ripping 120mph 12's without even anyone thinking twice of him doing it without a jacket. Sorry Keith, but it was funny. I had to point out to him that he was sitting there in ripped shorts and a t-shirt and that he probably mentioned to the tech guy that the car ran 12's before also.

Remember your should be in pants and a long sleeve shirt according to rules. The more unready you look to race the more they'll look for faults IMO. Pull up pop the hood, trunk, have everything out they need and like I said...act like your hoping just to have a good time. Not break any speed records. I bet a pepsi you get by without being asked about a jacket.

I got 8 runs in. I was in line at 4:15, and made my first run by 4:45. I left at 7:45, so it was pretty steady. I had 3 gallons of 100, the car weighed in at 3550 lbs.

My best was a 13.62 @ 98.9, 1.79 60'. That's my best ET and best 60', so I was pretty happy. I missed 4th, so I might have been over 100 on that run. I ran another 13.73@99, 1.9 60', then a 13.67@96.7 after missing 4th again. The rest of the runs were 14.x with either me driving like crap or the car not running right.

I was hoping for a 13.5, but I'll be happy with my 13.6x. Last year I trapped at 101, so the car was making more power last year. The difference I think is that I have the ECU chipped with pump gas extended maps, and last year I didn't and the car was faster with 100 octane with more timing. I have the same falling boost issue that I've always had, my B16G doesn't hold 20 lbs nice and steady. Rather, boost spikes to 22 or so, then settles to between 15 and 18 at redline.

There were a boatload of Subies and Neons, but I only saw a single other DSM and I didn't get to see it run. A new Charger R/T made a single run and ran a 15.6ish, I don't recall the trap.

Anyhow it was fun, maybe next time there'll be more DSMers there.

He asked if it was a stock turbo. I told a half truth, I said 'yeah, it's a TD05 housing' and he left it at that. No jacket needed.

Haha, well then they are getting more on it with the new rule. Glad you had a good time though and didn't have to worry about that jacket rule. FYI, I got my jacket last year from Summitracing.com. It was $60 something shipped. I liked the RCI ones but all the jackets aren't to expensive. You could even find one on ebay cheap too.

In the interest of safety, I'm tempted to buy a suit or at least both jacket and pants. Simply meeting the rule is one thing; but in a situation where the jacket would be needed, I'd rather keep my legs as well.

Erron has turned me into a paranoid safety freak. :p

WHOOT! :D

I'm working on making Chris one too!!

You're exactly right Erik, in the interest of safty, to much is never enough.

Did you ever see that ad in Grassroots where it says, "Now is NOT the time to find out you bought a cheap suit?" The picture is a car totally engulfed in flames with an arm sticking out the window.

What's funny is I almost mentioned I'd be willing to part with mine in that post. I need it though for next week, and then yes, I will be buying a full suit and selling my jacket that got all of a few uses. They aren't too much and I plan on needing a suit for the rules eventually. :D Might take a few more years, but I will need a suit by the time I'm done with my DSM (hopefully it's not outdated by then  LOL).

The jacket is actually still brand new, but I'll be hitting Bandi Tues, Wed, Fri, and the qualifing is Sat and races Sunday. So it's going to be a used jacked by then if anyone is interested in it PM me. It'll be available in mid June for probably $50 depending on the condition from those few races.
