John, does it *feel* heavy? How does it compare to an AWD DSM?

I've heard that there's some knucklehead V8 owner on the board now, too.

All we need is for him to post up a thread about his car, too.

I test drove one and liked it a lot ? I was going to buy one until I test drove a Mini. I thought it rode fairly disconnected from the road, but good handling. Comfy and smooth suspension that doesn?t feel sloppy or soft. Nice power and the console layout it great with plenty of room for long legs. It?s a good sleeper car and the turbo setup looked like it would make upgrading fairly easy.

I don't remember what the AWD DSMs felt like, Jer. It's 3300 lbs, so it's not light, but that's about what my GSX weighed, IIRC.

With some new suspension, it'd be much nicer to drive. Body roll, a bit of understeer, and the like.

It is, however, cushy. :)

I'm pretty excited about the new 2007 Legacy GT .spec B. It has Bilstien shocks, aluminum lower control arms, and the STI 6 speed. Yum!:D

Course, I'm also interested to see how the Evo X comes out and whether it maintains a DSG-like tranny.

Mark.

I'd love a mini. Maybe when they switch to turbo engines this year.

That'd be damn fun.

My Wife really wants a Lincoln Continental. Black, suicide doors..

Great. Another project.

No. :( So I'm missing out on my fourth consecutive Bandimere Track Day.

Randy says it ought to be done by the end of this week, though. I gather the body work was all but completely finished late yesterday/early today.

I miss it so.

It is a nice car John.

I'll never get used to the sound of a modified flat four... Time to turn up the boost!

I'm slowly collecting parts, Jason. I've got exhaust parts to delete 2 of the 3 cats, and a Utec waiting to be installed. I'm really trying to be good with this car. :)

Speaking of Utec - if anyone knows of a Utec remote map selector switch available locally, I'd be interested.

It?s a good sleeper car and the turbo setup looked like it would make upgrading fairly easy.
I test drove a Forrester 2.5XT a couple of weeks ago. Now that's a sleeper! It's only the 230hp version of the 2.5 boxer, but it still moved pretty good for a box on wheels. Probably faster than my T25 2G (sadly!).

I was surprised by how easy it is to get to the turbo--I thought I remembered it looking much harder to access on the first WRX's, but it's been 5 years since I've looked.

I've done two turbo swaps on WRX's, the hardest part I remember is the turbo outlet hose to the intercooler. Those clamps are a bugger to get at!

Overall, they are quite easy to work on I thought. - well, except a timing belt install on a dual cam 2.5.

You need like five hands.

When I was helping Bert with a clutch R&R on his father's Forrester, I was surprised by how insubstantial the fore-aft support of the motor felt. With the infamous "dogbone" removed, the motor was swimming around in the engine bay. (In fact, we had to fabricate a 'special tool' just so we could dislodge the tranny from the motor.)

Compared to a stock DSM, it sure seems like there's lots of space in that engine bay!

Well, new job is coming my way, so there may actually be mods in the cars future.

As of 08/07/06 I'll be employed by Symantec/Veritas as a sr. systems engineer, based out of Denver, working out of my home.

Decent bump in pay, which hopefully translates to a nice bump in AWHP down the road a bit.

John, if you get a chance catch us up on your history since Sun(?). I remember when you went through the job search and found something a while back, but I don't know anything about how good or bad you've had it since then :-).

I just changed positions within my company (LSI), so I'm finally starting to relax a bit after the psychosis that has been my work life for the last year.

I assume when you talk about mods you're still talking about the Legacy, since that's still the title of the thread and all :-).
