Hey, I was wondering what pound solenoids I would need to pop the doors. I figure it would be easier & more stylish to just shave the handles then try to fix the broken one.

Just get a set of those net doors Jeeps use...all of the climate control...none of the weight. Binga badda boom;)

(no seriously though, just use a window...thats why they are breakable...useless things anyway)

Oh, and welcome to Codsm!:)

Since most people don't do their own body work... I would disagree on that... as long as you arent an electrical idiot, never seen a wire type person, adding a solenoid (hell you could honestly probably use the power door lock solenoid since you wont want your doors accidently locking w/o door handles, but I would get a meter and test its pull strength first) and a spring to pop the door open is hella easier than getting into the door to unbolt and replace the door handle.

thanks for the welcome,

well I've found some kits that cost like 130 with a lifetime warranty, but they have diffrent strengths, 11lbs, 14lbs, 20lbs and 50lbs and idk what to get. Any idea?

Replacing the door handles are like a 30 min job. Get a kit off e bay there like 23 shipped for both. They come in black. It you find some for an avenger there usually cheaper (thats what i did). Oh and welcome to codsm fellow pirate ;)

if you want i can help you on how to change them its honestly not that hard.

Find a lil pull type scale (like a small version of what you would hang a fish on to weigh). Attach it to the cable and slowly pull it, that will tell you your answer, I really doubt anyone will just know the answer.

OH, and BTW, I believe if you ever decide to make it fast and take it to a track, you won't pass tech.......... just FYI, not sure if you are going for show or go!

I'd like to see that done... there's practically no room to work in there...

Also if you get em from the dealer they come pre painted as long as you have stock paint code... getting them at "shop cost" when I was in Texas, I paid $35 for pre painted door handle...

It took 3hrs to put it on though... not 30 mins... primarily first time doing it, and having to fish a nut out the bottom of the door, and then the pull rod wouldnt clip back in... fun times...

With no door handles, they cant easily get you out of the car in the event of an accident (unless you have window nets, but are those allowed in Drag racing?)

I didn't even think about that! thanks for the info. Anything else I need to watch for, before I go out and buy something and get myself banned from the track?

If you undo the latch via the 3 torx bolts on the door then you can attach the rods on from the outsides and side the whole thing in assembled and then the toughest part is getting the nut in on the top behind the glass and when youvve done it as much as i have i can do it in 30 min trust me!

After I replace the handle, do I really need to buy one of those door plastic wrap things or would it be ok to just go without one?

door plastic wrap things? you mean the plastic part that is inside the door? that doesnt come all the way off you just peal it back and it sticks back on with this tar ****.

ok, well last time I looked at it it didn't seem to want to stick back. I guess if all else fails I could duct tape it until I can get something better.

you didn't lock the clips all the way on the rods. push the little clips till they click and on the big clip one you have to use pliers to snap it all the way
