View Full Version : Which wideband??

OK after tuning with Steve J yesterday, It is obvious I need to start considering a wideband. I have always wanted to get one, but just never gotten around to it because back when I was "active" in the club, They were too expensive.
I did a few searches, and it seems like the cost on them have come down quite a bit, but now I just dont know which system would be best.
I really like the idea of going with the AEM UEGO setup, (I found it on sale for $265!!?) because I could replace my blinky light O2 gauge with this unit. The question is, can the signal be added to DSMLink for datalogging?
Any other setups I should consider? Are there gotchas on which O2 sensor is best / worst etc?
Thanks!

AEM is the most user friendly of the gauge types. Like I said I use the PLX, but it has an ugly rectangular box for a gauge. Needs to be hidden or mounted low and out of the way.
AEM gets my vote, and can be wired in.

Which signal in DSMLink do you typically use for the WB? just replace the rear O2 with the new Wideband and use the assoc. wiring?
just curious - haven't done much research on it yet.

You just decide which pin you want to wire it in on the ecu, we then ignore that signal and rename it. There is answers on the dsmlink forums on what to do. Just search for
logging a 2g wideband
This may be $15 more, but these guys can be trusted and serve the dsm community well. They would get my business.

The PLX SM-AFR looks like a pretty nice piece for $269 with the gauge.

You can get it without the gauge and log the signal with DSMLink for $195.

I have been trying to access the dsmlink forums, and for some reason they are either down, or not responding at least to me. I can open the main page, but anytime I try to navigate the forums whether by search, or by topic, I get the hourglass, and then the page cannot be displyed. (frustrating)..

It is working tonight fine. The past week or so they have been having issues. Not sure what to say. It is online now.

Get a used PLX R500. I had one and loved it. Probably will pickup another one.
