2g Alt. in a 1g

I was having problems with a misfire under boost. About a week ago my car was going to get towed so (I had to get off my lazy.........) I went down and replaced my plugs but the battery was completely dead. The next day I got someone to come help me jump it. We jumped it and it ran fine while hooked up to the other car but when I started to drive it it started to die when depressing the brakes. This leads me to believe that it is alternator failure as the battery isn't but 3 months old. I have a 2g alternator but not another 1g alternator, so my question is: Is there a way to make the 2g alternator work in my 1g? When I was taking it out this morning I noticed that there is an electrical connection on the 1g that is not on the 2g so that is why I ask.

If no, then does anyone have a known good replacement for my 1g alternator?
