Hey guys,
I think my 3rd gear syncro is out or going out. Most times when I try to shift into 3rd the engine needs to drop down to 2k then it will let me shif into 3rd. Same thing happens when I try to down shift into 1st, like comming up to a stop sign, but I have to be at almost a dead stop...almost makes me think it could be the second gear one but

You didnt ask Jack about this when you were over there? :p Sounds like you might be getting a tranny rebuilt before you get any new toys :(

Yea, I'm wondering if its safe to drive on untill I get enough for the econo build

I would say the clutch needs adjustment.
It sounds like the disk is dragging and not allowing the trans to speed up or slow down to allow gear engagement.

Well I do need to put my foot all the way to the floor to shift without grinding, I've heard that you can adjust the pedal, I may try that tonight.

I agree with marcus.. Bleed the clutch, adjust the pedal.

I'll do it tonight, and I may see if I can get some help with the bleeding.

The synchro is bad if it grinds. If it is blocking you from the gear and not grinding the synchro is working, but it won't last long if you continue to drive it in that condition. Like menetioned above- your clutch is in the 'friction zone' and needs adjustment.

So I'm guessing that I should losten it to where its full engaged when the pedal is all the way out and start to disengage when i put my foot in.
Thanks guys :D

No.
Adjust the pedal to where the clutch starts to engage about halfway up the pedal travel.
Everyone likes their own preference as far as pedal engagement height, but this keeps the clutch from dragging when the pedal is completely depressed.
Now, if you find that you cannot adjust the pedal to where it will completely disengage, then you may have some springs that came loose in the disk, some faulty hydraulics or a system that needs bleeding.

Ok, so bleed the system first then adjust the pedal as needed, if I still get problems I need to replace the clutch or M/S cylnders? then you may have some springs that came loose in the disk, some faulty hydraulics

Most likely.
It will depend on what you find in the diagnosis process. If you head up to Bandi tomorrow, I'll be there with my truck and tools. I can help you bleed it as long as you have some rags and fluid.

also on a 2g, you have to leave about an inch of travel in the pedal before it disengages

It feels like I bring it about half way out and it engages, and is fully disengaged at about 1/4-1/8 but pretty close to the floor

Any brake fluid will do. Dot 3 or 4. For the clutch only, I would just grab the smallest bottle that the parts store has. You won't need very much even to bleed it.

Alright, will do. I tried adjusting the pedal tonight, but it was too dark and I didn't feel like getting the drop light out and untangling the extension cord.
