When the engine is cold it takes several several tries before it will fire. I have removed the entire emissions system including the fiav. I'm guessing without the fiav it should take a couple tries but not 5 minutes or more? Thanks all.

How old is your coolant temp sensor? Mine went out and they're impossible to start...
At least 1G's are. What are you running again?

2g's are the same way, and I agree that sounds like the problem.
Unplug your temp sensor and try to start it cold - they'll usually start up that way, but then will run rough once they warm up (so you can plug the sensor back in if you need to drive it).
I haven't been able to get the sensor from anyone besides the dealer...even they screw it up sometimes. It's the one with the two prong plug on the thermostat housing - black on 2g's, white on 1g's.

I've picked up 1G CTS at Advance, I think. Maybe autozone. Works well enough.

just put a new one on(got it from ipw for 25 bucks). It started on the 3rd try, i did have the vehicle running this morning though. I'll have to try it tomorrow morning when it is cold outside. Now i have connected the 2 wires with spade connectors onto the sensor, my plug snapped off(frail old wiring FTL!!!) is there a certain way these need to be connected? One looks to be a ground wire as its bigger and has some white dashes on it.

The plugs break all the time. It's possible to fix them (but takes a few minutes of 'tiny work').
I'm actually not sure if it matters...I've always tried to keep them the same, but I'd guess it's just a resistor.
I can't get the correct 2g sensors from anywhere but the dealers...I tried a bunch of times and everywhere I went they would keep giving me the wrong sensors.
Could you post the 1g part number for the one you found?

yeah well he actually pulled one for a 2g originally on accident. When he pulled one for a 1g it looked exactly the same. Both of them where also black and didn't have any special markings but apparently a different part number so I'm guessing the reading is internally different. I'll see if I can find the box(to post the number) but I think i already tossed it. I car pooled this morning so I didn't get to test out the talon to see if fixed the problem. I hopefully will be able to once I get off work today though.

Did this fix the problem?
