So I am getting this free GTz today. Where i live I have no emissions at all, I live in Weld County. So I was trying to think of what engine things i could do to this GTz to make it go fast... and i found this!!!

I was hopeing to get all your thoughts on this idea, negative and positive!! What you think and what else will I need if i do this , ect...

And just so you know, not sure if it matters but the berettas weight is 2700 lbs... And I know some will say.."just get a dsm" but the hubby loves berettas and I love Dsm's so we wil comprimise...best of both worlds I guess..

I've always liked how the GTZs look. I think the 4g63 swap is a neat idea, but that car looks like ass. If you simply did a motor swap and left the looks basically alone, you'd have a sweet ride.

That car is not sweet.

Anybody disagree? Let's have an Oreo-eating contest to settle! :D I WILL OWN YOU!

LOL.. I know that car is not the perdiest. I was going for just the motor swapage idea. I dont like the spoiler or the decal job....

The gtz body will stay maily stock i think, except the Z04 kit will go on my car now. But other then that, we are mainly interested in getting the engine done, whethor it be a swap or just fixing the quad thats in it...
Another engine idea was a small block...
If we were to do the 4g swap would I have to do anything with the suspension or anything of that sort?

Anybody that says: "Yeah, that will bolt right in." is wrong. Even application-specific parts rarely "bolt right in".

For a project like that, there's going to be "make it work", and then there's going to be "make it feel like production". Guess which one is going to take a hundredfold more work?

Of course, I'm not familiar at all with the engine bay of a Baretta. There's always a chance the engine mounts will slip right in, but I doubt it. As long as you've got some steel and you can weld and you want to keep front wheel drive, you *might* be able to make it work in an evening or two.

There's a lot of "if"s there too. As for the suspension, the GTZ was front drive, so as long as you can get some axles to fit, you shouldn't have any clearance problems. You might want to compare the weights with what you're replacing, as the car may sit and ride a tad different with the new motor.

Oh, and good luck with the wiring on that one too. I hope you like aftermarket gauges, because you couldn't pay me enough to match all the electronics.

If you do something like this swap, you should totally keep an open thread aboot it. That would make a good read I bet.
