so a little while ago i was jumping the laser cuz i had left the door slightly open the night before. so when i hooked up the cables i lost even the little bit of power that was in the battery. then the altenator and batt started smoking. i disconnected the cables and they were really really hot. looked down and my alt. was on fire. so i finally got the car running... like crap. i had no interior lights, or cd player power. when i turned on the headlights the car would die. so i figured that the alt. was now bad. so i replaced the alt and batt, it runs like it used to now but i still dont have power to alot of stuff on the interior. like the auto seat belt only sometimes works, no lights, no sterio. and it is making some strange high pitched wistle noise from inside the dash. i have checked all the fuses and batt cables. i have no idea what happened. any ideas? :(

if the jumper cables got very hot, I'm thinking a dead short or reversed polarity.

I can guarantee that you probably blew a slew of fuses to those different circuits. Check the 3 fuse boxes an physically pull and test each individual fuse for continuity.

The three fuse boxes are located:
Under dash on drivers side kick panel.
Passenger side inner fender under the hood.
On the battery positive terminal.

Theoretically you will not need the diagram for it.

Just check each fuse one by one and replace them as needed.

If I remember right, the covers will vary with different trim levels and models.

ok... so, i replaced 2 fuses, so i have all my interior stuff back except the seat belts and locks. the new problem is when i hit my brakes, it kills my stereo. and it only does it if the car is at some RPM. at idle it just flickers. i am starting to get frustrated lol:mad:

Go over the harness look for melted or exposed wires and be sure to check behind the fuse boxes for melted plugs or wires...

so today i was driving it, when it started acting like it wasent fireing, no power, and kept backfireing. then it finally died. looks like i am taking it somewhere to fix. any good ideas on a shop that is good with wireing?

It is very likely the alternator fuse is popped, and the alternator is not charging the battery.

If you'd like to pm me your phone number, I can talk you thru some basic troubleshooting procedures.
