Well hello everyone. im sure this has been covered before, but my wife just got a 99 GS Spyder with that lovely 2.4L SOHC 4G64 engine in it. But now she wants it faster. from what i see a 4G63T would drop right in there but i have a few questions first. First would i need to get the 2G turbo wiring harness? and can i keep the same tranny in there or do i need to get the turbo tranny. just a note, this is an automatic. i do know i would need to get the 2G turbo ecu but i will just get her a DSM link ECU.

I can't speak for the tranny, but you will need the turbo wiring harness and ECU. I'm sure the tranny will bolt up, but I'm not sure how strong they are or if the shift points will work well for the 4g63 (thought I assume that could be changed).

I've heard, but can't confirm that the Spyders are built on the AWD platrom...would be nice if someone knew for sure.

Also, if she just wants a little extra kick (like 6-8 psi worth) I don't see why you couldn't bolt on a 14b and reflash the ECU (assuming someone has already done this and the flash is available). Then again, with a 4g63 you know exactly what it's capable of.

Well i know that mold is the same for the body and an AWD conversion can be done. i found a web page with a how-to on doing the conversion. but its a lot of work and a lot of money. and she wants a little more that 6-8psi worth. i tryed to tell we could bolt on my old 14b, but she has been in mine with a 60trim T3-T4 so she wants some power that she can make me build off of lol.

I'm sure it's more than just "bolting on" a 14b. Can you say oil feed, oil drain, oil drain fitting on the pan, injectors, pump, and then some way to control the extra fuel, intercooler, blow off valve, etc, etc? Is the non turbo spyder ecu even an eprom? I don't believe so.
