I have an extra block in the garage that is still in great shape.. All it will need is a hone. The last motor i built i did my own hone job at home, and it turned out awesome.. The motor is still running fine, and another member has it in his car.. My question is, if i get wieseco pistons, std. bore will the cylinder to piston clearance be right? From there i just set the ring end gap to what i want correct?

Measure and compare the piston diameter to the bore diameter.
Subtract the two values to get your piston to wall clearance. Adjust accordingly to suggested piston manufacturer wall clearance specs.

When you adjust, do you mean adjust the ring end gap, or adjust the cylinder wall, ie have it bored more?

Yup. When I say adjust. I mean bore or hone the cylinder to size. If the cylinder is already too large for proper clearances, simply bore to the next size up and buy pistons accordingly.
When it comes time that you get the block bored though, be sure to have the exact pistons you will be using present.

I highly recommend slattens automotive in Fort Collins. My friend works for him and he does some of the best work in the state! He usually builds 700+ci big block chevys but he can machine the block for you. If i remember correctly its 30-40 bucks a hole but dont quote me on that.

A place in Denver that a friend of mine uses for all his Hemi's and such is USA Performance (303)853-8200. http://www.usaengines.com/ He probably rebuilds 20 motors a year with them doing the machine work and were not talking low horsepower motors.

I had mine done at The Block Shop in denver. the are off evans and south platte river road. last time i had work done it was $7 a hole. the did an awsome job and i think they have great priceing.

it was 7 a hole for bore and hone at the block shop but i think 75-85 to tank it. i paid i think a grand total of about 350 there for bore, hone, tank, deck, balance shaft eliminator install and fully balance assembly. theyt also liped the hole to make for easier piston install.

I've never heard of "liping" a hole for piston install. I've built many motors and never done that. Most i'd pay is 100$ at a machine shop for a bore and hone.. I have already done the balance shaft elimination on this block. Why pay someone when i can take the old bearings out, turn them 180 degrees and put them back in? From there you install a stub shaft and jb weld a freeze plug into to block off the balance shaft hole. But 7$ a hole is pretty cheap so i might be heading there.

I've never heard of "liping" a hole for piston install
If there isn't a very small chamfer at top of the bore, the piston rings can catch the sharp edge/lip during installation.
This can chip/flake the ring coating, or actually break the ring, if excessive force is used.
If a bore has been machined oversize, the factory chamfer is lost, and must be put back. If the block is decked excessively, it can also be machined away.
The actual chamfer is generally done by hand with an abrasive cone on a drill. All that's being done is the sharp edge at the top of the bore is removed, and a very small chamfer is made. (it's not rocket science)
This is generally included in the price of the bore/hone, or decking operation, and I've never really seen it charged out as a separate procedure.
If you got charged for it as separate operation, I would consider it to be akin to being charged for pancake syrup at the local pancake house...

No i wans't charged extra for that. they said i would be done with the oversize bore.
