Ok here's the deal. I'm doing a 1G/2G conversion and I'm almost done but I hit a rather large hurdle. The 1G motor and trans I used was from a May 1990 5 speed FWD But some jack hole used a NT flywheel and clutch. Needless to say it slipped constantly....
The trans I'm trying to bolt up is from my 1995 Talon TSI AWD.
Obviously I can't use my 2G flywheel on the 1G motor because the bolt pattern is much larger on the 2G.
And the 1G NT flywheel is useless for obvious reasons.
My question is should I be seeking a 1G AWD flywheel
or do I actually NEED to use the 1G Trans for this to work?
I imagine I could just use a 1G AWD flywheel bolted to the 1G motor and still retain my 2G AWD tranny. I'm asking because I'm about to order a flywheel from Fidanza and I really need to be SURE I can do this!!!
What do the other 1G/2G converters do? They still use their 2G trans don't they? I'm pretty sure I got that much from a FAQ somewhere but I've searched so many FAQ my head is seeping. Thanks everyone!!!

Yeah, you got it right. Use the 6-bolt 1G AWD flywheel. Make sure you also swap out the plate that goes between the engine block and tranny with the 2G unit as well. You might have problems getting the starter to work/fit right if you don't use the correct plate.

Thanks Jack! And yeah now that you mention it, I did read that. I even found myself switching that plate this morning and when I was done, thought to myself, "there was I reason I just did that...." My brain stuck in cruise control I guess. Anyways thanks alot. I think I'll try to find a used OE unit for now to get me on the road, and maybe order from Fidanza down the road.
Now I'm 99.99% sure about this: I CAN retain my ACT clutch and pressure plate from my 2G right? I looked up part #s at work and they're the same clutches from 1G to 2G. Just paranoid I guess. I've run into alot of stupid issues with this build. Started as a 1G head transplant then the bottom end crankwalked two days later! lol the price you pay to play I guess. Thanks again Jack!

All the AWD DSM clutches are the same, 90-99, same with FWD I believe.
