Alright guys,

Im employed at the moment but i'm slowly finding that it's not where I want to go in life. I have a baby girl on the way, my soon to be fiance is about 8 months and I need a CAREER I can not only excel at but advance quickly and be happy with.

I'm not quite sure how to write this but its a start. I'll go over it after work as I'm currently on my lunch break.
I have loads of automotive experience. I've worked on cars my whole life starting at the ripe age of 8... handing tools and such, learning about the combustion engine. Did an entire sb 350 overhaul at the age of 12 and right at about 17 to 18 I started dabbling in the "imports" I've overhauled mostly 4g63's but i've been involved in b16s to H22s and i'm now quickly learning about the EJ design and the details of their potential and how to build them.
I would love a career in automotive and I'm extremely interested in the tuning aspect. My fiance sometimes get frusterated with my constant desire to learn new ideas and information about anything from different hybrid turbo configurations to just recently ecu tuning. If I can't speak with someone, I usually just read. I frequent the forums on a daily basis but not too many people see me post. I would rather figure it out by reading than depending on someone else figure it out for me.

In the last few years i've shadowed my dad in real estate, buying, flipping and selling houses in forclosure. I've bought numerous houses from banks and also from homeowners for a penny. Yes a penny. I have about 3-4 years experiance here. I've renovated more than a dozen different homes including such things as water heaters, tile, drywall, carpet, paint, general maintenance and pretty much everything in between. Only thing I wouldn't trust myself on would be electrical but if someone were to teach me, i'm all ears and EXTREMELY eager to learn just about anything anyone is willing to teach.

I also have had about 3 years of sales experiance. I continually try and work on my people skills as well as helping people make the best decision based on their project. I started in automotive sales, found I didnt' like the stigma so moved on to something a little more my style. I'm currently holding down two sales positions, ones non commission(which bothers me but doesn't keep me from excelling and competing) and the other is half hourly pay and half commission which i've done extremely well at within the few months of employment.

I'm not looking for side work(though i'd be more than happy to help you with), i'm really trying to find a career I can stick with for a while. I'd like some place I can grow, excel and compete at. I'd also like to be able to do what I love at work, whether its tuning cars, replacing turbo's for more power or home investing to sales. In that order.

If anyone has any info on current job openings or something I can work my way into. Please, let me know. I'm in Longmont at the moment. I'd like to keep it local but I would be more than willing to make a drive.

Thanks
Steve

Well I'm not sure what they have there, but if you know anything at all about computers go look into Seagate/Maxtor, they have decent bennifits and good pay, if you get ont he sales team you wouldn't make commission because you're not directly selling products, just giving specs, etc.

I appreciate the suggestion. I've been watching like a hawk for anything remotely interesting. I have stumbled upon a few things i'm chasing down. I'm pretty excited about one position in particular. I WANT this job and if they don't see my tenacity, then they must not be looking for it.....:D

I'll take a look into Seagate/Maxtor, i'm actually very interested in learning more about computers. I've built them, gamed with them and love overclockin them and all. It'd be interesting what sort of jobs they have available.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me. If anyone's got anything else you'd be helping me out tremendously. I'm very motivated to rearrange my life to ensure i'm heading in the right direction.

My friend recently got a job at Excel, building sub-station. He seems to like it, and the benefits are great. He has a baby on the way too, and wanted a more stable job with a large company.

Ever thought about the government? Lots of career fields and its nation wide. Here’s where you can search for jobs www.usajobs.com and here’s a GS pay scale so you can know what kind of pay your looking for. www.fedjobs.com/pay/denver.html and you'll at least get a 3% pay increase each year for inflation and full benefits from day one.
