I went to the emissions place on Havana on Thursday. While I was waiting in line, a fat kid with stupid piercing in his face and an even dumber girl both employees approached me. First he said they couldn?t run my car because I had non-factory rims and the guides would damage the wheels. I said that I have tested my car with the same rims two years ago. Since the tires exceed the rims there is now way they could be damaged. He then asked if I could disable my turbo? I said the car comes stock with a turbo so why would I do something as stupid as that. He than said if the driver here?s the turbo spool up they will immediately DQ my car since it has a modified turbo.
Finally, the manager came to look at my car. He said, ?no problem the tires are fine?. Both driver and tech gave me good complements on the car and I passed.
I gave that fat idiot kid the "de-de-de" award for this week.

Wow.......
What a douche bag! Even if you could (and why would he think you could), how would disabling the turbo help you pass? Just stay out of the boost, it's not like they are trying to mash on it while performing the test anyways.
I don't have aftermarket rims (nor does my car look fast in ANY way) but I ran my car there and I didn't have any problems. Some of the peolpe who work there couldn't find their ... with both hands. One guy aproached me while I was in the AWD line and asked me if it was AWD. That's why I'm in the AWD line!
I actually worked across the street at Saturn of Aurora and I sometimes had to run cars over there for emissions. I was talking to a some guy with a turbo'd Honda and they made him go get different rims because they wouldn't let him get it tested with his aftermarket rims on there. As long as they are warned I don't see a problem. Maybe it's because they put morons behind the wheel of your car who can't keep it centered on the roller(s)?

But it's the dumb kids who will miss things like an open wastegate dump, no EGR, no charcoal canister, valve cover venting to atmosphere, etc.
