View Full Version : bad starter?

So I bought a starter from a guy on DSM Link and installed it last night. Now when I go to crank the engine, I just hear the fuel pump kick on and no click or anything - engine won't turn over. I triple checked the wires to the starter and all are connected. I verified that all the fuses under the hood and inside the car were good and still nothing. Did I get a bad starter?
I also put in a brand new optima red top (my old one was dead). Is there anything else that would cause the starter to not respond? It just doesn't do anything, no clicking, no cranking. I also tried moving the car about a foot incase the gears were somehow stuck..
Any thoughts?

Figured it out.. It looks like he sent me the wrong year starter.. I have a 96 with a 6 bolt and the starter he sent has the teeth set lower than the one I have and his was longer.. I just bit the bullet and went to Satan and bought a new one... $190 later... She's running again..
Thanks everyone.
