I'll be there and my brother and Tyler look like they are going too. I have never been to an open track day with the Faasst guys, so it will be a learning experience! Looks like a lot of cars are going to be out there so this should be interesting. I just called and got in, so it looks like they are not full yet if anyone else wants to go. Here is a bunch of info below and oh, they take passengers down at this one too!

Just sent by Judy-

Here is what I know so far:
- The weather is going to be beautiful. Please ignore the weatherman if he says anything else.
- The PMP concession stand is going to be closed for renovation on Nov 15, so pls plan to bring lunch / snacks with you
- We have some exciting door prizes lined up – everyone has a chance to win one – $40 to $200 in value each
- The first 24 drivers through the door with a nomex race suit receives a FREE sample of Molecule wash & protector
- Payment will be cash / money order / checks only NO credit cards. Some of you have pre-paid, thanks! - However, payment at the gate is fine with us
- Safety Class participants MUST be ready to go in the pit by 7:30
- Open lapping begins at 9am

Race cars lap at top of the hour :00
HP Experienced cars lap at :20 after the hour
Novices, Safety Class and any one intimidated by open passing will lap at :40 after the hour.

This rotation will continue from 9 to 4pm.

At noon we will announce the door prizes, so if racers are lapping, and win a prize, you can pick it up at the FAASST booth later in the day.

The usual FAASST safety rules will be in effect. Act like an adult, respect others, point by passing. Break the rules; get a beating! You know the drill.

Now for the important part:
It appears that track days at PMP will be EXTREMELY limited for 2009. FAASST will do the best we can to continue running schools and offering you open lapping with us at PMP as long as we are able. This Nov 15 event MAY be the last exclusive date we are able to pull off for awhile. Therefore if YOU know of anyone who wants to lap or do the PMP safety course in a safe and private environment, this might be the event for them. Please have them call or email to reserve a spot for Nov 15.

Bring your friends and we will provide the safe day.

Regards,
Judy Faass

I just called and sinned up. They have 3 more slots open in the High Performance Driving and 4 in the race group. I won’t be there in my DSM though. Look for me in my #73 ITA RX7.

Man Im really going to get a new radiator and get my dsm ready for track racing. Hopefully it will run cool with the 16g hitting high boost.

It should be a nice cool day on Saturday. You don’t need a race prepped car to come out and have fun. I will bring my aluminum radiator if you want to use it for the day.

You can also turn the boost way down. When you have less boost and less power you won't have as much heat either.

LOL that would be awesome, but too much work for just a day. I guess I could drop boost to 15-18psi and that shouldnt overheat. I remember I never overheated before jumping to 30psi. Maybe that would work.

My main issue would be my brakes I guess. They are pretty shot and would probably get ran up If I went out. But sounds like so much fun, way better than the drag strip.

If you have less than 1/2 brake pad left it will most likely fall apart when they get hot on the track. Brake pads are easy to swap and can be done out there real quick if you get another set. I have a jack and some tools with me if you need them out there.

Again, it was a blast! The car was perfect all day and I popped on my set of Hoosier A6 225 series tires on at about half way though the day to get used to driving on them. I wish I would have brought my set of Hoosier A6 275s because the car was unbelievable on the 225s! I don't know why people say they are a sensitive tire that requires a person with a lot of experience and feel for the car to run them, because I had no issue at all knowing when they were getting pissed off. There were a **** load of Subies out there! Seriously, being the only DSM kind of sucked, but I held my own. One guy caused a little trouble, but the others were okay.

Matt showed up in his RX7. Good to meet you Matt! Hope you will be back out next year!

Here is a video of the car at PMP today. I just ran a full session with my brother in the car so it's a little long.

Ahh man Im going to have to go out. Just so scared to use my DD for racing like that.

I hope to see you too Zeppelin!

A DD that is your only car is not a good idea to race on. You must be willing to understand that you may lose the car out there. If you can walk away from the car, if anything bad happens, and not be in a pinch over anything you may owe on it or that it is your only vehicle then you will be okay. I saw someone wreck their car this weekend and it looked like it was damaged beyond repair. He was cool with it and it was just his fun race car. If I were to total my Talon or BMW, that would suck but it's okay. I owe nothing on them and have many other vehicles to drive. I would recommend finding a cheap car that would qualify as a DD first before putting your only car you have now at risk.

Of course I'm N/T, but I've driven my DD on different tracks for the last 3 years.
The most serious incident happened last summer at PMI when I slid across the track and bent the driver hub.
Fortunately I was able to drive my wifes car to work or had her drive me until I got it fixed.
