Seth, there are letters on the cams, I think "B" is cast on both 93 cams , I have another set with " A" cast on it, and another set I think came out of a 1990 series. The 93 cams are off of a turbo engine. Do you know or let me me know where to verify as to what the letters mean? Thanks , Jim

The exhaust cam that I was using was supposed to be from a 92-94 turbo 5speed. It has a "A" on it.
My 90 intake cam doesnt have a letter.
I know there is a post on dsmtuners or dsmtalk that says which ones are from what year, but I couldnt find it.
Edit:
found some numbers, supposed to be cam lobe height
intake: ID mark A,D: 1.3972-1.4138 < Turbo and Non Turbo Manual
intake: ID mark B,C,E,F:1.3858-1.3661 < Turbo Automatic Trans
exhaust ID mark A:1.3858-1.3661 < Turbo Automatic Trans and Non Turbo
exhaust ID mark C:1.3972-1.3776 < Turbo Manual
exhaust ID mark E,F:1.3744-1.3547 < Not Sure (90-92 all models maybe)
Intake NT opens 26 BTDC close 46 ABDC lobe height 35.493 (34.993 limit)
Intake MT opens 21 BTDC close 51 ABDC lobe height 35.493 (34.993 limit)
Intake AT opens 21 BTDC close 51 ABDC lobe height 35.200 (34.700 limit)
Exhaust NT opens 55 BBDC close ATDC 9 lobe height 35.200 (34.700 limit)
Exhaust AT opens 55 BBDC close ATDC 9 lobe height 35.200 (34.700 limit)

Thanks for the info Seth. I wonder what the "G " cams are from. These were on the 1993 head that i took off the car. It is a 5-speed car. I have another head that I am going to use and it had the " A " cams in it. If I have time I will bring them to work and set them up on the Lathe and check the total lift with the dial indicator. This is good info as I would hate to use the auto cams if it made any difference at all. Jim

The later 1g turbo 5 speed cams are the best ones to use. Most people just swap out the exhaust cam since the intake cam isnt much of a difference.
So I guess you would want A or D for intake and C for exhaust.
O... plus these are for 90-94, so G could be from a 2g I suppose.

Thanks again Seth. All this info is good to know. I will probably run the "a" cams since now I know what to run. The g cams are a mystery I guess . Maybe they are the non turbo cams. I also posted on the e-mail list and it finally went through. Jim

Ignore the casting letters. Look lengthwise at the non-timing belt
end of the cams and you should see a letter stamped on each cam at the
outside edge. This is the letter that corresponds with the
lift/duration specs in the FSM.

Well I got the service manual out that I forgot I had . It is a factory service manual for a 1991 laser turbo. It shows how to measure the cam lobes and what dimensions for each camshaft and whether it is turbo m/t, turbo a/t , and non turbo. It pays to measure each camshaft . One set was for a turbo a/t , 1.3858 in. One set was for a turbo m/t, 1.397 in. It seems like you never know what head is on the car unless you measure the cam lobes. I never checked this before and have been running these cars about 4 years. Now I will check every set I get with every car or engine. The cams that were in the head off my 1993 car I am working on had the 1.385 cams. I will install the 1.397 cams in it. Thanks to all for all the good info. It is great to have others help out when a question arrises . Jim Zapp
