Looking at buying a turbo. FP3575, owner says its used with no shaft play in perfect working order except the light nicks in the wheel that he says does not effect performance. What you guys think?

Mine looks close to that and has been fine. The thing that worries me is the corrosion on the nut and shaft.

Hmmm, its a good deal, under $500. Think thats a huge issue.

I don't know. Could be. I guess see how much it is to rebuild through FP. If it's still a good price even with the rebuild I'd do it then.

Maybe I'm just being picky, but...

Looks like there is either some streaking from oil, or contact by the blades, in the bottom portion of the housing. Look at the 2 bottom 'primary'/shiny blades, where their tips are close to the housing...I see a dark line trailing those blades, and it looks like the whole wheel is drooping slightly that direction.

Hmm, I also see the line. That scares me, I just emailed FP to see what a rebuild would be.

Damn! Good catch and I agree. That is a pretty good witness mark there. Something had to make that mark and it's probably the comp wheel. I would say that turbo most likely needs a rebuild now.

Don't buy it unless you plan to get it rebuilt.

Look at the spacing between the comp wheel and the housing on the left and right sides.

Looks uneven to me.

Yea after researching a little more the owner is just blowing smoke up my ***. I found he bought the turbo on ebay about 2 months ago and is trying to resell it. Original seller said it had high mileage and was selling it so cheap due to the scratches in the wall that the wheel had touched. So yea, Im glad I know how to research.

Now the search continues for a good hx40 6 or 7 blade.
