I have an FP Green turbo which currently has the elbow facing the driver side. I just need to have that elbow cut off and re-welded facing the passenger side for a short route intercooler piping setup. I wanted to know if anyone would be able to help me out. I have heard that there are a handful of good welders on here and I figure I would give this a shot. I would be willing to pay for your services and your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Tony, does it need to be tig welded? If it can be done with a mig just give me a call some time and bring it by the shop.

Compressor housings are aluminum. It needs a TIG. A MIG would work if you have a spooling gun for aluminum, but it would still be pretty hard to do with a MIG, so best bet is to find a TIG.
Tony...go to a metal shop near you. There are tons of them. Shouldn't be a big deal for them to band saw the elbow off and mount it properly on there for you. Plus you'll want a good aluminum welder for this job since it will be your compressor housing and if it gets screwed up you're out a couple hundred for a new housing.

Thanks for the advice Chris. Can you recommend any in the area?

Not any offhand. I'd google for metal shops near you in google maps and see which ones are priced good after calling a few. Make sure you have someone comfortable with welding aluminum also. Not all shops deal with it a lot from my understanding. My wife's ex-husband owns a metal shop but doesn't deal with aluminum much is why I mention that part. So find one that is aware of what you want, or find a machine shop that builds engines and ask them. They might do it also.

If you pull the comp housing off and bring it down I can do it for $85 labor.

Sounds reasonable. When is a good time to bring it down? I am off on Tuesdays. Does that work well for you? If so, can you give me a time and I can shoot over. Thanks for the help Jack.

I am only here from 1:30-6 on Tuesday. If you could get here at 1:30 we should have plenty of time to get it done.
Where are you located? I might be in the Denver area Sat night and can pick it up from you then if that will work. I can then get it done on Tues and you can pick it up anytime so you don't have to wait.
