Anyone who likes cars and racing this is a great what to see what a race weekend is all about. You will be able to see both the race class and the Time Trials run group. Come out and have a great time. If you do come out stop by and say hi. I will be driving the 73 Spec7.

So what happened?

BlueVelocity

A lot happened! LOL

It was fantastic. Acres of trailers, RV's and motorhomes. I'd guess 150-200 drivers. We had 27 in CTT by itself! It was amazing. We got to run the track in configuration 2. It makes chicanes have more chicanes! Off camber chicanes! LOL I'll go into greater detail when I've had some sleep and time to process the weekend. I will say it was really hot and the track was perfect. Got all of 2 hours of sleep last night with all the party buddies, such a great time. Grant even partied with us till the wee hours, it was awesome... More to come with video.

A HUGE thanks to Jake, Marcus, Ray, Steph, Cole, Red, Chase, Ron and everyone there on the pit crew, you guys rock and I couldn't have done it without you.

We missed ya Paul!

Alright, now that I've had some sleep...

This configuration that we ran was basically chopped at the bobsled. Looks like this...
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2701/configtwo.jpg

The track map doesn't really do it justice either. It's quite a bit tighter than it looks. It's also all off camber at the mid section. You can come in fast but you had better have scrubed off some speed for the mid section. It was really challenging and a lot of fun to drive it this way. It was even challenging for the high DF cars as they would get really light coming over the crest. With the first two corners being blind you had to point and shoot through that section. I used the tower way off in the horizon for my bearings so I'd know where I was. It really changed things up for all the competitors. I just wish I can have 2 days of the same config so I can learn the entire track, lol. I guess that will come in time as more and laps are layed down out there. I have some video I will try and get up tonight.

Fellas, did you guys have fun? :)

Seems like every day, as I'm headed west to go to work in the morning, there's a gaggle of Germans, Miatas, and Corvettes headed for HPR. Vice versa in the evenings when I'm coming home.

Sigh.

Hmmm, two posts and not time given!:)

I wanted to stop by for awhile, but I have too much going on.

Oh, here you go..

Practice session 1.44.299 (on board lap timer)
Competition session 1.45.020 (AMB transponder and temps were about 30 degrees hotter by then)

27 cars on the track, a -clean- lap meant you didn't drop a tire. The track was never empty. Made for a good challenge.

Finally figuring out what was going on after all this time feels kind of liberating.

Kind of amazing you're able to corner hard enough to slosh around 3/4 tank enough to make the fuel pump cavitate.

Car is amazing with how far it's been taken and how well it's held up all these years.

Weekend was a blast although I became a white and red striped lobster with sunburns. :)

Grant was a riot and was more than hospitable to our entire group.

No kidding. The sustained g's are what's doing it. That's a long, fast, high G right hander and it all just makes sense now.

I watched the drifto video with you in the car last night Marcus. It's a good one! :D (although it did snap back rather quickly)
We need to get working on your 2g so we can have you out there on track with us man.

It has held up very well. It's all about the up-keep. If it looks like it's gonna break, just fix it. :p

I got some pics of me driving my Talon on Sunday morning for the PDX session. I still have to download them onto my computer, Professional photographer took the pics when I was on course. First time on the new course at speed so I had an instructor with me. I will try to post the pics as soon as I figure out how. Special Thanks go out to Blue Velocity and his crew, especially Marcus. Thanks guys for helping out so I could pass tech the next morning. I will make sure the strut assembly and knuckle bolts are tight befor I get there next time. Thanks Guys!

You bet Brent! It was a pleasure having you hang out with us man. I was just happy the guys were able to get your car fixed up and through tech so you could run in the PDX. Marcus is an amazing mechanic, as well as Cole. Those guys are like a well oiled machine, so fast, so precise, and can diagnose stuff like what your car was doing in a matter of seconds. (then fix it in a matter of minutes!!) I'm really blessed to have them crew for me.

We'll certainly have to do all that again man! Great driving and thank you so much for working corners all day, I know how hot it was out there. :)
I hope my car wasn't too loud? :D

These pictures were taken at Turn 14
I was awarded a 30 minute PDX session/Personal Driver Xperience. Running the car was great. The coolant temp went a little past the middle marker maybe 4-8 MM let off and colled down, then back at full throttle!PDX session was free because if you work/volunteer a SCCA regional event you may patiscipate in a PDX. After that its up to you, be ready to get hooked. I did not have a transponder so I have no lap times,:( also I did not run the full course.:( But we all had the oppurtunity to drive the cut off before 9A which was still very green:) It was a blast can't wait until next time. Thanks again guys for all your help. Hope to see lots of people for the Double National Labor Day weekend HPR SEPT 5. We could use some more volunteers, free lunch sat sun dinner sat+BEER=FREE:eek: for everyone at the end of each day. Going to be lots of cars there WE HOPE, ENJOY the pictures I will paint the car when I get more money Thanks. GODSPEED my friends!

There was another, but I didn't track. I just came to watch.

I wanted to go to church first so I got there for only one lap of Erron's last run.

Awesome car. Did meet Erron and reintroduced myself to Jake. Didn't get a chance to meet the rest of the guys, since you were busy loading up the car. Maybe another time.

How about we go shoot some guns!

What class would the Rav4 be in? I bet I wouldn't be the slowest vehicle out there! (Ops, that should go in the trash talking section!). All I need is brake pads and big tires!
