I was really planning on trying to get up there but my car is still running seriously lean at WOT.. If I can get a new pump installed this weekend and sort it out, I'll be up there.

I'll probably drop by just to get some runs in before the end of the season.

Might go to this one or the next one on the 7th depending on how things go this weekend with tuning. Now that it's running I just want to make sure everything is ready for the track without issues. The weather hasn't helped at all this week with working on it, but if I miss this T&T I still have one more before the Pepsi race on the 9th.

Hope to see you guys there though if I can get her buttoned up finally.

I have an extra 255hp if you need to use it.

I sure could use another 255 HP. That would add considerable to my HP total. Could you mail it to me? Kind of like a mail in tune :)

Unless it's an inline 255 it won't do any good. I pulled mine out today, did the walbro mod (to keep the bypass from opening) and tried adding 15% fuel and still getting 13.2 AFR's at only 25 psi..
I think I need to bite the bullet and buy a bosch 044 to put inline..

Allen,

What fuel pressure are you running when not getting enough fuel?

Is your engine a 2L?

Is 25 psi boost the max you run? If so I assume that is fuel limited is this correct?

How much Horse Power do you think you are making at 25 PSI of boost. Crank or Wheel?

My questions are because I haven't figured out why you are out of fuel.

Since I added another 255 in the tank parallel, I have tons of fuel, but with my 1660 injectors I had plenty for 30 PSI boost with one pump.

I figured out the problem today.. I bought the Walbro like 4 years ago and apparently it wasn't the HP.. So the pressure was dropping off at about 50 psi. I installed a 255 HP this afternoon and did a 25 psi pull and the AFR's were right at 10.3 so I have plenty of fuel now.
I plan on running 30 psi on E85. I'm pretty sure the stock 6 bolt will hold up...
I'm pushing about 45 pounds per minute so whatever that equates to in Hp with about 15 degrees of timing. I'm hoping for something near 400 but the Dyno will probably squash that.
I'm probably gonna try getting up to Bandimere Wednesday and see how bad my driver mods are :)

Rule of thumb is add a zero to the end of the lbs/min and you've got a ballpark HP number. So you're probably around 450 HP pushing 45lbs/min. Of course that is with a stock MAS and if you're running a GM MAF then the numbers are off a little unless you've calibrated your system with the MAFT.

Craig,

Are you running E-85 now? If so you will make more power with 22 degrees of timing and no knock. I am doing trials with varying amounts of gas and E-85. So far at 22 degrees advance & about 29 psi and 1/3, 91 octane and 2/3, E-85 I am not seeing any knock.

Glad to learn about the non HP pump. I knew something was wrong.

Craig?
If you mean me, yes - 100% E-85. I'm still on the stock 6 bolt bottom end so I'm gonna try and keep the timing to about 17 degrees for now.
I am on a GM Maf but I have it calibrated pretty damn close. My boostest and actual boost are almost perfectly lined up all the way to redline.
I'll probably play with it a bit at the track if I don't get the times I want. Hopefully I can pull off a low 12. My driving skills are most definitely sub par at the moment. Haven't made more than 3 passes in the 3 years.. Sad, I know.

Well ill definatly be there. have a good base tune down for 22psi. Ill start from there and turn it up at the track if everything feels good. Sounds like this should be some fun. This will only be my second time to ever run at bandi.

Do they charge to spectate?

Wazzelby
September 28th, 2009, 06:05 AM
I think it's like $10 to spectate. We should find a place to meet up once we are there. I need to borrow a helmet for tech though since min'es expired. I just need it for tech, not to race so if anyone can help me out, that would be great.
I have a satin black 2G - can't miss it.

I just need the helmet to tech. I can use mine after that. Or I'll just say I'm running 13's :). If I see you guys, I'll pull over there. I'll be in a flat black 2G. I have some tuning to do myself now that I got my fuel pump issue sorted out.

Allen make sure you act like it maybe will run 14s even though we all know better. Aftermarket turbos require a jacket if you're faster than 13.9 and they'll make you rent one of their nasty ones if they think you are even close to running that. Otherwise if you want to play it safe try to find yourself a jacket to borrow from someone. I've gotten away with telling them that it is a stock turbo, but my FP2544 is small like a stock turbo so I get away with it usually. Last time a guy challenged me on it saying his brother had a DSM and that it wasn't stock. I had to pull some smoke and mirrors with my fast pace talking to wing it by him and make him think it was stock and somehow my Jedi mind trick worked.

As for me and running the '97 GSX I have some stuff to work through today before I'll know if it is ready for tomorrow or not. I'll post back later tonight.

Well, not a bad night. Met a few guys from the club, nothing broke and finally made a clean pass.
Ended up with a 12.7 at 115mph. Finally got my 12!!!
Tune was a bit rich (11.3 AFR) and only ran 23psi since my stupid boost controller was being all wonky.
Couldn't quite get the hang of launching either - ended up with a 2.15 60'. I need more seat time..
All in all it was cool meeting all you guys up there and had a great time!!

Just a driver mod away from a killer pass Allen. Mitch went 12.1@114 with his 50 trim. I believe he is now running 12.0's with similar trap speeds on his 16g.

Shoot, I ran 12.9@107 FWD last year man. With 1.9-2.0 sixty foots.

So did that transmission work well tonight? It is the first all out test for it, is it not?

I had a little trouble with third gear on the first run but other than that it shifted smooth. Thanks again for hooking that up for me. As for the driver mod, I totally agree. With a little more boost to bring that turbo alive and a better launch I should be scratching at 11's.

Is Mitch the one who threw a rod tonight? Super clean green 2G with a 16G, lives up in Loveland?
I thought that was his name, either way he threw the rod through the block from what I heard.

Yup, he didnt have so good of a night

I drove my car 80 miles today. Ran a 11.5 @ 129 and drove it home, so I was happy with that.

I was not there, but it sounds like Mitch's car. Sucks to hear about his motor. I hope it was a stock engine. But from what I remember, he has beat on that thing for years. And I would say more than all of us combined. He has problems. I just can't subject my car to such floggings.

Seth , glad to see you ran well. I was working and couldn't go . Tough luck for Mitch , he has such a clean 99. I talked to him at t n t a few weeks ago and was impressed with his car time and setup . My talon is going down here again for trans rebuild and engine refresh again.

If you wana try you can barrow my Delorean. :D It me a bit to post back about my night. It was nice to meet you guys. I only ended up with a 13.30, and it was the run i had that was into that head wind. Only traped 110 on that run. The run just before that I had a good lunch then hit second on the nlts and spun the clutch so it looks to be time for an upgrade. In the end i had fun and nothing broke ( at least for me sorry Mitch). It was a good night
