Hey James, I meant to ask you, how does your car stack up against this guy's?

http://www.douro-oni.com/memberView.cfm?ID=1

He's the only other land speed DSM guy I know of, although he's FWD (and Spyder).

Hey all, forgot to mention that the primary sponsorship is available without all the swag for $500, and also associate sponsorships for $50 w/o swag.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer!!

Hey Ryan,

From what he's got posted on his site, he hasn't made a verified backed-up run yet. If/when he does, I'll gladly give him the creds he'll have earned, and then build like mad to try to take the overall DSM Land Speed Record back.

He's running a 2.4 so he'll be in the F/BGT class rather than the G/BGT class I'm working towards, but I'd bet a 2.0 coupe would be faster than a 2.4 convertible due to better aerodynamics.

You're right, I think he was shooting for 200MPH club last year when Bonneville got soaked out.

Hey all, I am the guy from the link above on the douro-oni site. I have a certified run for 150.40mph. I wanted to go faster but was not allowed because of no chute at the time. Results can be found here http://www.scta-bni.org/El_Mirage/ELM%2006/July/photos/cars_2.htm car number 933. The next meet is this weekend and planning to without any major barrier to go the exra 10.5mph for the record. I just wanted to clear that up, but I want to wish good luck for world of speed as well! I was not able to make it this year because of financial constraints and last year my parade was rained on :(

I think that you are definately the fastest DSM at Bonneville unless theres another car neither of us know about and nobody I know of has ever heard about. There is a guy running a galant VR4 but he has been plagued by problems. Coincidentally the same guy also holds the record I am running against now, which was set in a 300ZX with twin GT35Rs.

As for convertable drag it definately hurts me if you put us head to head. But still a .32 CD compared to a lot of other cars isnt that bad and the best I have ever seen for a convertable anything. But we are in totally different classes with anyway so we arent racing head to head for the same records.

MHT, did they put you into BGT as well? They are changing me next year to Production Supercharged. Something about the backseat being able to take people in it.

Will you be at the world finals? Although we are competitors sort of it would sure be nice to see another DSM out there.

Hey Drew,

Congrats on your 150.451mph World DSM Land Speed Record!!!! :D

I know how difficult it is to go fast on a Land course, so you definitely deserve all the creds you've earned!!!! I'll also put up a link to your website from mine. BTW- Is your car still street-legal?

James, thank you very much for the congratulations! It is much appreciated coming from you having been the first to ever try and succeed with a DSM at this.

I drive the car to and from the races which is about 450 miles to El Mirage from here. I got 29.8 mpg last time although it helps it was hot and high altitude most of the way. It takes me about 2 hours to convert to race mode swapping seats, removing mirrors, ventilation system arming the fire supression, etc. So it doesnt run in a real street trim it changes a little on race day.

Street legal is a very grey area ;) It's street legal in the state its registered in but would never ever ever ever pass california emissions. I never really bought into the thing where people drive a car on the street and call it a street car I wouldnt call an F1 car a street car no matter how many times you went through a burger king drive through in it. I dont consider it one at all.

Thanks again for the congratulations! Also, please update me with your results from WOS.
