[Sorry for any duplication as I just posted this to the old codsm e-mail list, but not everyone subscribes to the Forums.]

As I can't legally tune for 150mph+ on the street, or reach that speed in the 1/4 at Bandimere, I'm looking to borrow or rent the following known to be good spare parts as back-ups:

a set of race plug wires
a 2G coil pack
a 2G transfer case
a set of 550 or 660 injectors
a set of 4 narrower V or Z-rated tires/rims 16" or 17"

For those who can help, I'll make arrangements to pick up your parts at your home or office, whichever is most convienient for you, prior to 9/11, and then return them to you on the 17th or 18th. If your parts are damaged in any way, or lost, or stolen while I have them, I will pay you the full replacement cost plus any shipping, or order new ones, pay for them, and have them shipped directly to you, whichever you prefer.

You are the greatest group of friends a person could ever have, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help you've given me in my on-going quest through the years!!!!

Thank You,
James

Sorry I don't seem to have any of what you need. When you talk about tuning at 150mph, have you considered buying a bit of dyno time? At Super Rupair they could set it up to hold you at a constant 150mph for however long you wanted to run at that rpm/speed, even if you vary the power output.

Hey Carl,

I did go out to Bandimere in the beginning of August and just held it in third gear to run high rpms, and no problems showed up while I was there, since that was cheaper than dyno time.

The spare parts I've asked to borrow are in case a minor problem crops up while I'm out there as there are no DSM parts to be borrowed on the Salt or for sale in Wendover, the little town nearby. That was the kind of minor problem I had on the Salt back in '03 when my fuel filter partially clogged and the car didn't show the problem till it got up to 122mph and then wouldn't go any faster. I changed to a huge NASCAR V-8 fuel filter with a cleanable element for '04, and have another spare new element that's been in the glove box, so I'll never have a fuel filter clog problem again.

Thanks to the guys who've already offered some of the parts on my wishlist!!

OK, I just thought maybe it would be worth a hundred bucks or so to you to be able to run for a couple minutes straight at full load at 150+mph wheel speeds and see if your datalogs looked OK. Just curious, what fuel/boost/timing do you run for top speed runs and what turbo do you use?

Hey Carl,

I'm running a Big 16G, 100 octane, haven't made any timing/fuel adjustments yet through the DSMLink, and the amount of boost will kinda depend on the surface conditions of the Salt.

In '03 I ran 18psi and broke all 4 tires loose every shift. In '04 I ran 6psi and didn't break loose at all, but barely made it past 130 at the mile mark. I'm guessing somewhere between 8-12 psi this year.

I'm planning on bringing my new wi-fi laptop with, in addition to the car's laptop which is permanently installed in the rack, so I can go into town at nights and post tuning questions to codsm and also the DSMLink forums.
I'll be running on three consectutive days, so will have time each night to go over that days runs and figure out what settings to try the next day.

Also, Thanks to all those who have offered up spare parts so far!!
James

Hello James,
Just wanted to wish ya 'Good Luck' up there!! I've been there a few times when I lived in Elko, Nv and know how much fun it is to watch, but you have been participating and I give ya props for that.
