I am trying to hook up a black top cas in a 90 dsm. I have the connector for the black top cas and I also have the pigtail from a 90 cam sensor that plugs into the harness that is attached to the fire wall. Only 2 of the wires of the two pigtails match eachother and I can not figure out which of the other 2 wires need to be soldered together. I have been searching and searching with no luck. So, if anyone has ever done this or knows what I need to do, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Solder the red/black then test it out with the other two. If it doesn't work one way just switch the wires and solder it up.

I have the guts of a 91-92 sensor and also a 90 sensor...if interested, you can have those to smash up and verify where the pins/wire colors go. My only request is that you take pics and post details on the website so other CODSM members will have it for reference :)

That would be good and I would be willing to do that. Only thing is that I believe that the black top cam angle sensor is only found in 93 and 94 turbo vehicles. But, I would take that 90 cam sensor just to see where the wires go in relation to the internal parts of the sensor.

The thing about that is that there are 2 black wires on the black top cas connector plug. Pigtail for the 90 cas has: 1 white (more off white), 1 black, 1 red, and 1 yellow. The connector for the black top cas has: 2 black, 1 red, 1 white. On the connector for the black top cas the red and one of the black wires appears to be of a thicker gauge than that of the other two remaining wires.

The plug is identical from 91-94.

The thicker gauge wires are likely for power, and thinner for the sensors signal.

You might also be able to figure out the wiring if you referenced the 1g CAM in a 2g writeups for 6 bolt swaps.

Ya the two thicker wires are the power/ground.
