Well its that time of year again. I have building / tuning my car for the past 5 months now and this is what my goal is . To participate , not break and have a respectable time finally. It is always great to see everyone again after another long off season and see what everyone has done to their cars over the winter. Who is all going , where are we going to pit at ?

My car is down right now, but I co-own a trailer with a coworker who is going up so there is a 90% chance I'll go up with him and watch. If I do, I'll bring a camera and take some vids of DSMs. Since you have an HX35, I'll point out that my coworker has an HX40 on his Saab and he was almost trapping 130 the last time he was up.

Bummer, my coworker isn't going to make it - he said he wants to change his clutch before he goes out again.

Cool , I don't think I will trap that fast I am looking for less than 13.5 @105.

Let me re-phrase, Sorry about your friends Saab, I am looking to improve my time and speed , more than 105 mph.

How much boost are you planning on running? Do you have any 70-90mph 3rd gear times? I wouldn't think that beating 105mph would be a challenge unless you are running pretty low boost.

Well tonite , I did 5 passes , I ended up pulling more fuel , adjusted the timing , added boost. I didn't check the afr or the psi while racing so I had to check on the drive home. 28 psi, 10.9- 11.0 afr , 100 oct gas. There is some knock, no more than 2.5 deg. Any suggestions for 12.0 @120 mph? Also , the gm maf/maft. I reset my fuel settings to 11.5 afr that I did at 75 deg, then tonite as the temps cool , in the 60's , I ended up pulling more fuel twice and still had 10.9 - 11.0 afr. So the gm /maft time for it to go and switch to speed density? I plan on doing that after Sundays race. Thanks, Jim.

Oh yeah , just checked my 70 to 90 time , 1.97 sec.

I saw your log on the DSMLink forum, and you aren't too far off. Something is weird with your data collection rate so it is hard to split out the fine detail of 70-90mph (your mph appears to sporadically jump in 4mph increments). I have a time slip where I ran a 12.3 at 117 and at the 1/8th mile I was hitting 93mph at 8 seconds. Your car looks like it is at least that fast, so you must not be too far off your goal (assuming your speed sensor is accurate).

I would agree with the data collection , I think it boils down to the gm maf/maft. I know the speedometer calc is off it shows I am trapping 120 and I look at the speedo at the sign and I am just over 100+. When I had just the safc and the gm maf /maft it would send out a jagged signal on the palm pilot. When I switched back to the 2g maf it would be nice and smooth. It didn't seem to pull as hard though with the 2g maf. I am going to run the car later this afternoon after it warms up and see what I read in the afr.
Thanks, Jim.

Are you planning on converting to E85? I was able to gain about 60hp with the more aggressive tuning E85 allowed at 26psi when I switched to E85. Our turbos aren't that much different, so I think you would see similar results. My 70-90 times, as I recall, went from 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds. My 117mph trap run was only on 23psi boost with the same E85 tune.

That is a huge gain in hp. I do plan converting soon don't know when yet. I would suppose I need another in line pump , bigger fuel line to the fuel rail , another filter, bigger injectors.

A single 255 should be good for around 500 hp from what I have herd. As for fuel lines the stock feed line has really close if not the same I.D. size as a -6 and people have been having really good luck with running the stock lines all the way to the bay even with duel in tank 255s.
The bottle neck in the stock fuel system is the banjo bolt at the fuel filter so if you get rid of that and go to -6 or -8 off the filter you should be able to squeeze more power out of that 255 you got.

Well it was a good day , 3 qualifying passes , 1-12.5 sec , 2 more 13.0 .. A little disheartening .Did the first elimination round , won it , next race bogged the start and just barely lost to an evo. That'l teach me to go easy on the launch. So 20 psi at launch for me ... let'm spin some through 1st. I didn't see too many dsm's there , I don't know why . All in all , a good fun day , didn't break , drove the car home.

I was there with the white Evo. I totally screwed up and bogged in the SSC finals. Lost to the blue Honda but that was first time ever doing the Pro Tree so I still need some practice. Good to see everyone there!

11.0 @ 133 was my best. Not my greatest runs but it was enough to make a few wins and make it to the finals. My car ran quicker than the Honda but I choked and bogged.

Damn, time to invest in a "driver mod" :p
We'll need to get both our cars up there this summer for some seat time. I *should have the Eclipse running this week, just waiting on a 1G thermostat housing to block gasket..

133 is healthy, Shawn. I'm only gunning for 120 on Friday.

Yeah driver mod needs to be done!
Thanks Mike. Hopefully I can do better Friday. My best so far is 10.8 @ 136 without power shifting (NLTS)

Pro Tree SUCKS! 4 runs of mine got screwed since I didn't have enough time to build boost and have a good launch. I just more practice time.
Sorry I let down the 4G63 guys in the finals.:(

I was up there for a few hours. Small crowd but some nice cars. I saw all you guys run at least once. Rodent your evo is gorgeous. White RS, my favorite. Good runs! Davis your car sounded like it was running good. Jim good runs. It was good to see you win your first round and the launch looked pretty good.

Well maybe someone should try to get something going as far as race get together. Test and tune is ok but you can never get everyone together . I did see the volvo guys together at the tuner mayhem race. It was neat to see them line up at the entrance , I don't know where they pitted though.
