This is pretty light on detail, but the thought of it made me want one. Badly.

Good god. That thing could use a nasty nasty gearing setup and just fly. 10K RPM. Imagine the timing advance you could run on that kind of operating range, even with a short stroke.

Speaking of high-RPM motors, I've wanted to see this technology applied:

Coates Rotary Valve Engine (http://www.coatesengine.com/technology.html)
Look Mom, No Camshaft! (http://www.coatesengine.com/look_mom_no_camshaft.html)

Presumably it's problematic in one sense or another, or we'd have seen and heard more of it by now.

What in the world does 'FTW' mean? I see it in most of your posts, and I'm not familiar with that TLA.

"Detroit has shown the least interest in further developing the CSRV technology, and disappointingly, Coates feels that the first engines to use this will most likely be from foreign companies", it never seems to amaze me that American car manufactures never try to lead with new technology, always follow!

That engine seems like a great idea until something breaks of course, I'm pretty sure toyota or honda will be showing this in their next super car. Great link!

It looks like a good idea. REPLACING those solid peices of metal if the break though... god with car parts places already charging 300 for a relay...
