View Full Version : Body work? (Tuning was the closest bet I could think of to post this in.)

I'm planning on getting my talon repainted, but I want to get all the body work straightened out before I do that. The side panels are warped, and the front bumper cover needs to be replaced. Does anyone have or know anyone with these parts? Ideally in black. If not with the parts themselves available, maybe with some suggestions for repairing the warped panels on the sides? Also, I checked maaco for a paint job (you can view the whole album these pictures are in to see how badly it's needed, and yes, maaco but I'm on a budget) and they said about 1100, but that didn't include fixing the side panels. Anyone know of another place they'd recommend for getting a paint job? Maybe somewhere local that does good work and won't charge up the nostrils? I'm on a pretty steep budget.

The price of the paint job is mostly in the prep work. If you can do that yourself you can save lots of cash. If you have a compressor get a DA sander and go to town. 600 grit will be rough enough to get it smooth and still allow good adhesion.

If you don't have a compressor, you can probably rent one from Home Depot or a similar place. You should be able to get it knocked out in a day. Don't go to the bare metal, just get everything smoothed out.

That's not the part I'm worried about, what I was worried about is how the plastic trim panels are warped.
