Any results from Pinks? My coworker with the HX40 Saab went and actually got on the show, and even won his first race, but Bandimere kicked him off the track for running an 11.3 without a rollbar. This is the first time he's ever gone that quick, so he hadn't needed a rollbar before (used a 50 shot of nitrous to keep make his car more quick out of the hole at the drop of a hat, or arm in this case, but that made a big difference in his time).

There was like 5-7 cars that were booted from the top 32 for no cages. Tommy @ streetconcepts in his evo was another.

Yeah, he told me that. He said they were mostly imports too. Bummer.

I know I haven't a lot of room to say this, but why would you bother to participate if you didn't have the required safety equipment?

I can't speak for anyone else, but my coworker's best time was a 12.5 when he signed up. Before this event, his best time was an 11.7 which was a couple weeks ago and he broke his transmission at that race. Since then, he was just trying to get his transmission together for this race. Nothing in his setup has changed since he was running mid 12s except his ability to get the car down the track. Even so, he was just barely running too quick for the safety equipment he had. Keep in mind that the time range picked was about 11.3 to 11.5, and the break off for a roll bar is 11.499.

All I can say is this:

That track was *PREPPED*

I have never seen that track that sticky.

Even a lot of the big time domestics were bogging out of the hole.

Yeah, there is something to be said for racing at a big event like this to get your best slip. Most of us race during the test and tune days, which has the least amount of track prep (if any), but during the big $ events, they make the track super sticky. A sticky track like this would have really been good for an auto - no bogging an auto, either you hook or you spin.

That Saab was moving. Very impressive.

Wow, yes, that track was the best prep I've ever had the misfortune to run on in the morning session, haha!

The track was so sticky during the qualifying that I made changes, the wrong changes.

The morning session I had enabled the antilag to about 9psi/6000 rpm launch. The car bogged! Bogged to a 1.91 sixty and by the time I got it moving again it was a measly 12.0@123. Since I bogged, I raised the tire pressure and launch limit to 7k. Well, since I was car 267 I don't think they did any prep during the arm drop session. So this run was spinning all the way through 1st bouncing off the limiter, 2nd gear, same result. Hit the limiter in both gears to a 12.6@120 or something. The funny thing is as I was pulling up to the line looking at Rich I actually said to myself, I can see concrete. I should have backed up and moved over a bit but I didn't. Oh well, the newly installed stainless t-case took the abuse all weekend long of no-pre-load launching on the "light switch" twin disc. That's a happy thing. I even drove my car home because Marcus was nice enough to tow home a dsm that created another crankcase vent on its own.

All in all it was a stellar weekend with many memories that just won't go away. We hammered through the few hours of sleep we had, the shenanigans never stopped and my face is still sore from laughing all weekend long. There's just nothing like good friends with good attitudes that are just there to have a good time no matter the results. It was a perfect weekend for me. :)

All 3 test n tunes this summer I spun through 1st gear. The street tuner mayhem race the track was a lot more stickier for sure. I guess I would like to spin the tires than break the car.

Yea I just left my car launching at 5750 all weekend and never really had to many problems. Best 60ft I had was a 1.70 on friday evening so the track was gripping hard. Had my personal best so far with the new setup 12.48 at 110
