Well, I have been in business for myself about a month, and already I am expanding. At the moment I have 1800sqft(1500 shop and 300 office) and as of the 15th(Friday) I take over another 1800 sqft. The unit I am currently in will become the Service shop, where the guys will be doing routine service and scheduled maintenance type stuff- timing belts, brakes, water pumps, etc etc. Later this year I hope to also offer tires and alignment rack service as well.
I am moving all my performance, racign and project cars down to the other unit, where I will be doing all the welding,fabrication, tuning, modifications, etc. At some point this year I will be adding a surface plate for racing and performance suspension setup and precision chassis fabrication and repair(of racecars only, I am not in an forma body shop.. This unit also has a "clean room" built into it complete with updraft fan for building engines etc. I currently have no plans for an in-house dyno, as IMHO the Denver area has plenty already.
Plans are already in the works to sponsor local drag, drift, and road race cars, and since I suck at both drag and drift there are opportunities there! Current plans are for my own FC3s to become the shop Drift car, the gold Talon to be the shop Drag car, and I have a surprise guest for the road race car I have no one currently in mind to pilot either car, but I am looking!
Business has been good and currently I have a mechanics helper- Jake, and a service tech- Anthony, and will likely be hiring another service tech within the next month or two. I also have several candidates for the performance shop as well.
When I have both units set-up like I want I will have a Meet or party, but that is likely to be a while in coming- too much work to do! I will however give any CODSM member a 10% discount on parts and services.
