Great time met up with Terry , J n J , and some other folks I hadn't seen in a while. Car ran well, bogged, red lighted, and drove it home . Still trying to beat my best time /speed but no luck. I ran the same boost , timing and afr as on 100 oct pump race gas. I did forget that I installed the cat in anticipation of e testing so that could have something to do with it. All in all a fun time ... too bad next season is 7 months away...

E85 won't make much if any difference if you don't change your tune. Set your fuel at 11.5:1 to 12:1 and start increasing timing until you start seeing a couple degrees of knock retard (do some 3rd gear pulls to see if it is knocking), then back it off a couple degrees. If it doesn't knock, then stop at 20-22* at your shift point.

From my experience, if you knock on e85, it knocks much worse then if you were on gas. I wouldnt add till it knocks.

He is running E85 now but is using the same tune he used for 100 octane.

I looked at your log that you posted on DSMLink. Your intercooler is just too small. It is starting to heat soak by the end of the track. Your best bet (aside from getting a bigger intercooler) would be to drop your boost a couple psi and try to tune more aggressively. By running less boost, you'd reduce the strain on your IC. Just know that you are playing with fire. Running the 1/4 mile on a hot day could easily toast your engine. Believe me, I've been there.

I had thought about it being too small and I guess was needing someone to suggest that. Where on the log did you see the info at? I also need to calibrate the 2g maf that I installed too, maybe today if I have time. I do appreciate everyone's advice and I learn something new each time I ask. Dsm link is an outstanding tuning tool for these cars , I will always have it as long as I keep playing with them. Does anyone know if it will work with a 93-96 Mitsu mirage? That is my winter project. Thanks, Jim.

You had some knock in 1st and 2nd, but they in both cases, they started out strong and faded with rpms (I'm not even sure that was real knock and not just drivetrain noise from the harsh conditions launching in 1st and slamming into 2nd gear). In 3rd year, you had virtually no knock and in 4th gear you had virtually no knock until the top of the gear. At the top of the gear, you start to get knock and instead of fading, it grows with time. I would speculate that if you had run another second that you would have gotten 3* of retard and another second you might have seen 5*. In my experience, once it gets to about 5*, things get out of control fast.
