Well, I've been thinking about selling my car for awhile now, but I'm really kind of thinking it isn't worth much. That said, I want to get some experienced opinions from some of you who buy and sell DSMs more than I.
First up, the issues (i.e. the bad):
Tranny is skunked. 2nd gear synchros totally fragged (have to wait about 3 seconds after pushing in the clutch to 1-2 shift), and it pops out of first. Ironically, other than that, it functions enough that I've daily driven it for about 4 months like this. It could be fixed for $1000 or less.
Clearcoat is failing on the hood (good 8" area), and starting to go on the roof. The car will need to be repainted to truly look good again, but it's in no danger of rusting away or anything.
There is some good about the car:
It only has ~85,000 miles, pretty low for a 7 (probably closer to 8) year old car.
The engine runs like a top, no problems there.
Interior is immaculate. One slightly abraded area on the driver's seat, but leather is supple and the dash is perfect.
It has brand new Kumho ASX tires.
It drives straight and tight. No leaks.
It has a handful of mods, which are sort of in the process of being removed back to stock. B&M shifter, shifter bushing kits, 6 piston Wilwoods, Defi gauges, Hallman B/C, pretty nice Premier stereo w/ Infinity sub & speakers.
Well, is it worth anything?
