Im back with another problem with my wifes sable. So it recently started hesitatting really bad when acceleratting from a stop. It chuggs really bad for about 3 or 4 seconds when she accelerates from a stop.

There is no check engine light on, has a new coil pack, tune up done recently, drained and filled tranny with a filter.

Any ideas guys? Its a 3.8 v6 automatic.

Hard to say from the description whether it's engine or trans related...sure sounds like it could be the torque converter though.

Does it ever suddenly lose power during cruise or is it only during initial acceleration from a stop? Which engine does it have?

I was thinking torque converter also, but ususally with my experience with solenoid controlled tc's is they cause the car to stall out when they start to go south. Not saying its not the tc but feels like it could be. Not sure.

The car has a 3.0L. It raely shuders at normal speed, but definitely does it all the time from a stop. It also will do this when the AC or heat is turned on.

What plugs and where are they gapped to? New wires?

If this were a DSM I'd suggest to replace the spark plugs and wires. Unless that was part of your tune up?

Might also want to inspect for any vacuum leaks.

Edit: looks like Marcus beat me to it!

The plugs were gapped to factory spec. brand were bosch platnums. New wires.
