View Full Version : TERRIBLE night at Bandi :(

For the first time in 2 years I finally made it to Bandimere last night. First I stopped by for 20 laps at Action Karts, which of course was a blast, then headed up the hill for some T&T action.
I staged, stutterboxed, dropped the clutch and barely moved. 17.7@92, grrr. Same thing next pass, I didn't even bother stopping at the timeslip booth.

Either my Centerforce clutch is defective, or WAY out of adjustment...but it was fine for three 320-375HP dyno pulls and 3000 miles of spirited street driving.
Now, the clutch is so weak I could barely get it home and up my driveway, it starts slipping at less than 0 psi :(

Hopefully I didn't toast my brand new XACT flywheel too...

Broke the 3/4 shift fork street racing a friend after though.

Bummer, Jesse. :(

No way to know for sure whether there's any damage until you pull it apart; but if it wasn't slipping before you went to the track, I suspect the flywheel is probably still OK.

Nice runs, Seth! What kind of nitrous system are you running (dry/wet, single nozzle / direct port, single shot / progressive, shot size)?

Zex Single Fogger 55 Dry Shot, which is now controlled by my ecu for activation.

Sorry to hear about your issues Jessie! I'm sure that you'll figure out what's going on and get it fixed so that you can make some really fast passes! Think you should step up a twin disc while your in there? Well, you have two more T&T coming up so theres still time. I plan to be at both.

Won't make the one today, will try hard to be there for the last one if I can get it to engage and shift OK.
I checked everything external to the tranny and it all seems fine, the shift fork, release bearing, clutch and flywheel all have only 3000 miles on them. I tried adjusting the pedal stop and acutator rod positions, and have the clutch grabbing fairly well now, but it's quite difficult to get the tranny in gear/change gears. I haven't tried a launch yet on this config. The rod is very sensitive to adjustment - hopefully I can find a sweet spot where it has enough clamping force and will still allow the tranny to shift. Either way, this clutch won't last too long...

Alrighty - I found a fairly good setting for the clutch where it holds and shifts acceptably. It's not great, the clutch engages very low off the floor, but it'll work for one session at Bandimere at least. I made two successful launches tonight at 5500 and 6000 RPM, tires slipping instead of the clutch - It's been 2 years since I've heard that sound out of my Talon, and was quite entertaining with 120 horses more than before!
