 Ok, so the new Fidanza aluminum flywheel arrived just in time. Aside from being absolutely gorgeous it's unbelievably light (8.9 pounds)!!!!
Anyway, the question I have is does it need to be stepped for my ACT 2600? It doesn't say anywhere in the instructions or on the website about doing this prior to install. I plan on trying to get this done today if possible since the motor is going in this afternoon.

Thanks,
A

I would certainly measure any new flywheel to make sure it had the correct step height. It's cheap insurance to know it's done correctly.

Fidenza flywheels are a little thicker at the web where the mounting bolts go through to the crank. Some people have experienced bolts loosening, which they attribute to shorter thread engagement. Supra bolts are a solution mentioned. FP sells a longer bolt kit for aluminium flywheels. Locktite is a must.

Another issue is damage by the harder steel bolts to the softer aluminium flywheel. The automatic transmission 6 bolts had a factory steel thin ring under the flywheel bolts, which a number of racers have used with aluminium flywheels to spread the torque and protect the flywheel. They are very inexpensive from Mitsu -- $5 or so.

Hope this helps.

I've called Fidanza on this a couple of times and they say that it's spec out to be .610 from the factory. I've put two of these on my car. The first one I didn't check and never had a problem with. The second one, I did check and it was right at .610 and never had a problem with it. (I replaced the first one because it got scared up by a stupid ACT spring coming out of the clutch disc.).
You can always check it or have it checked but it should be fine.
